Annotated Information
Gene Symbol
- Os10g0122600 <=> OsSNDP1,SNDP1
Function
- OsSNDP1 encodes a Sec14-nodulin domain-containing protein.
- OsSNDP1 is involved in growth of root hairs.
- OsSNDP1 plays a critical role in root hair elongation in rice
Phenotypic analysis
- The lengths of root hairs at the root hair maturation region were compared between wild type and 5-day-old seedlings of the mutant (Fig. 1a, b), and the root hairs of mutants were only 16 % as long as those of wild type plants.
- Mutant root hairs did not become fully elongated even if roots were grown for a longer time, which implies that shortening of root hairs was not due to a slow growth rate.
- Under the same growth conditions, the length of primary roots was similar between mutants and wild type (Table 1 and Online Resource 1).
- Therefore, the mutants showed a defect that was specific to root hair development.
