Function

A rice (Oryza sativa L.) semi-dwarf cultivar, Tan-Ginbozu (d35 Tan-Ginbozu ), contributed to the increase in crop productivity in Japan in the 1950s. the semi-dwarf stature of d35 Tan-Ginbozu is caused by a defective early step of gibberellin biosynthesis, which is catalyzed by ent-kaurene oxidase (KO). Homozygote with null alleles of D35showed a severe dwarf phenotype; therefore, d35 Tan-Ginbozu is a weak allele of D35. Os06g0570100 in gene bank its number is AY660665,it is also called tanginbozu dwarf; dwarf-35;ent-kaurene oxidase gene;Gibberellin Biosynthesis Enzyme.In addition, its finding is by discovering that the Tan-Ginbozu is lack of KO enzyme that involves in the begining of sythesizing GA. And its funtion involves in the three step oxidation of ent-kaurene to ent-kaurenoic acid .Moreover,Rice with half dwarf gene d35 is one of the few applications in the production of sd1,and its product can reach 8.26t/hm2.
