Annotated Information
Function
- The rice gene OsHI-XIPa rice encodes xylanase-inhibiting protein (XIP)
- Overexpression of OsHI-XIP Enhances the Activity of Xylanase Inhibitors and Resistance in Rice to SSBs.
- Overexpression of OsHI-XIP Reduces the Feeding and Oviposition Preferences of BPHs
- The rice XIP-type xylanase inhibitor OsHI-XIP is involved in the resistance in rice to herbivores.
Phenotypic analysis
Compared with WT plants, overexpression of OsHI-XIP did not influence the growth and development of rice plants during their whole life.
Expression
- QRT-PCR analysis revealed a low constitutive mRNA level of OsHI-XIP, while herbivore infestation, mechanical wounding, and JA treatment, especially SSB infestation, result in an obvious increase in transcript levels.
Subcellular localization
Subcellular localization analysis showed that OsHI-XIP localized in the ER.
